JCH-NACA Animal Control Officer Practice Test – Prep & Study Guide

Wearing gloves when assisting an animal is essential for several reasons, making it a best practice for animal care professionals. First and foremost, gloves serve as a barrier to protect both the animal and the handler. They help prevent the transmission of pathogens, as handlers may come into contact with bodily fluids that could carry diseases. This protection is particularly important in situations where the animal may be sick or injured.

Additionally, using gloves can reduce stress for the animal, as handlers can maintain better grip and control without the risk of slipping or losing contact due to moisture or other substances on their hands. It also fosters a hygienic environment and minimizes the risk of cross-contamination between different animals, which is crucial in settings such as shelters or veterinary clinics.

Ultimately, the use of gloves is a precautionary measure that promotes safety, health, and the well-being of both animals and humans in any animal care context.
